HISTORY

SCS was founded in November 2016 with the merger of Schiefer Media and ChopShop to form SCS. Schiefer Media’s James Schiefer and ChopShop’s Zach Lyons wanted to create an agency uniquely designed to meet the future needs of consumer marketers by bringing media, creative and content together in a nimble, data-first offering designed for the new speed of consumer business today. SCS acquired Fuel in July 2018 to bring advanced digital studio capabilities to the agency.

Schiefer Media (1985)

Schiefer Media was an enthusiast media agency with an original focus on the automotive aftermarket and related enthusiast categories. Founded in 1985 by second generation automotive veteran Carl Schiefer (whose father Paul Schiefer was a founding member of the automotive aftermarket trade industry association SEMA in 1963), Schiefer Media went on to help numerous automotive brands – including category leaders Edelbrock, Mothers, Bilstein, and Royal Purple – to connect to enthusiast consumers through television, print and digital media.

ChopShop (2003)

Founded by seasoned video production entrepreneur Ken Anderson in 2003 as a post-production house, ChopShop went on to be an important television production partner for Fuel TV in the 2000s and ultimately became a creative agency with a focus on lifestyle brands under the leadership of film director Zach Lyons, who has directed work at ChopShop for Nike, PacSun, and Mophie.

Fuel (1999)

Fuel was founded in Ottawa, ON Canada in 1999 by Mike Burns, Jeff Doiron, and Dave Ozipko as a pure play digital studio, developing digital experiences and platforms initially for local clients such as Canada Post and The Royal Canadian Mint but within a few short years was a significant digital agency on a global level running major digital initiatives for clients ranging from McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, NFL, and Mattel. This included global roll-outs such as barbie.com for Mattel, Happy Studio for McDonald’s, and Fanta Fruit Slam for Coca-Cola resulting in managed, multi-language digital platforms that engaged millions of consumers/month.

James Schiefer

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

James is a leader with 20 years of experience in the media and advertising world. His career has focused on client advocacy and innovating ways to reach new and relevant consumers to drive results. He has developed and executive produced TV shows on Spike TV, Outdoor Channel as well as multiple digital properties that have reached millions of viewers. He has created media properties such as the broadband TV network Torque.TV and a proprietary dashboard taking real-time data to measure advertising results for his clients. Starting with three people, he has grown SCS to over 85 employees through organic growth and acquisitions, expanding SCS’s capabilities into a data driven media planning/buying, creative, content, social and digital agency.

Zach Lyons

Founder & Chief Creative Officer

Zach is an award-winning film director and creative director with a passion for storytelling that brings brands to life through creative and content. He’s directed national advertising campaigns for Nike, Boost Mobile, Mophie, Alcatel, Pacsun, and Virgin Mobile amongst others and has created branded entertainment including television shows and documentaries for Vans and Blizzard Entertainment. As the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of SCS, Zach oversees all creative for the agency and helps infuse storytelling, strategy, and passion into every project we touch, from brand design through to advertising, digital and retail communication.

Jeff Roach

President & Chief Strategy Officer

Jeff is a strategic planner, global brand consultant and speaker specializing in brand management, digital marketing, and marketing strategy. With over 20 years in advertising and marketing communications, and a majority in lifestyle and digital marketing, Roach is an experienced strategic marketer for global brands and an expert in Millennial and Alpha consumers. Jeff has touched over a thousand brands with past work for Cadbury, Coca-Cola, Coors, Durex, Energizer, Mattel, McDonald’s, Microsoft, MINI, MTV, Procter & Gamble, PUMA, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros. Jeff has presented at SXSW, Adobe MAX, Digital Hollywood, and Digital Kids conferences and is a Communications & Advertising Accredited Professional (CAAP).

Julie Allen

Chief Financial Officer

Julie is a CGA, CPA with 20 years of accounting experience and over 11 years working in an Agency. As the CFO, she oversees the financial function with a focus on strategic growth and operational efficiency. She has experience in scaling and growing companies through strategic management of operations, HR and project management. Additionally, she has involvement in M&A, due diligence, raising equity and debt. During her agency tenure, Julie was an integral part of the management team of an agency that tripled in size from a single Canadian studio to an international agency with a US presence and clients like McDonalds, Microsoft, and Dreamworks. She previously served on the SoDA Board of Directors and continues to be an active member.

Braden Bailey

Chief Operating Officer

As COO of SCS Digital, Braden leads the operations on all SCS digital agency work, creating a bridge between the needs of some of the world’s largest brands with award-winning creative and technology studios.
Braden’s digital career started as an interactive film producer working on award-winning work including the Sexy Subaru campaign launching the 2009 Subaru Forester. Since then, Braden has overseen a large number of digital experiences active in over 60 markets worldwide for key clients such as NASCAR, Warner Bros., Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney, McDonald’s, DreamWorks, Microsoft, Geox, ZeptoLabs, and Mattel. Braden has a passion for creating uncompromising digital experiences that deliver against strategic brand goals focused on ROI.

JOHN ZEGOWITZ

SVP Creative & Executive Creative Director

John is a 20+ year veteran as an advertising, marketing, social media and content creative who has worked in virtually every medium from broadcast and print to social media and multi-platform content campaigns along with design and branding. From agencies in Boston, Chicago, NYC, Denver, and now Orange County, California, John’s roles have included Group Creative Director at FCB, Creative Director at DGWB, and Art Director at Bozell Worldwide with national and global work for brands such as Taco Bell, Avia Footwear, Sunmilk, YogaWorks, Kawasaki, and Hilton Hotels. With a career start as an art director, John is a strategic creative director with an eye for executional detail that connects strongly to business goals.

Anthony Licon

Chief Digital Officer

Anthony specializes in consumer trends, insights, and executions surrounding digital experiences for global brands. As a 20+ year veteran he’s worked heavily in digital marketing, franchise management, and developing experiences for brands such as Disney, McDonald’s, DreamWorks, NBCU, Warner Bros., Mattel, Justice Retail, Walmart, DC Entertainment, NASCAR, and Carnival Cruise Line. Anthony’s previous roles have included Chief Strategy Officer at Fuel, a 15-year tenure at Disney as Group Creative Lead at Disney Consumer Products & Interactive, and R&D at Walt Disney Imagineering.

Martin Walker

Chief Technology Officer

Martin is a media and entertainment technologist, with a rich history specializing in interactive media and games. He’s architected and managed implementation of game engines, production tools, and online game technology stacks, covering a gamut of platforms from mobile devices to game consoles and everything in between. Martin has been involved in defining tech strategy for client productions including Warner Brothers, Disney, Mattel, Nickelodeon, NBC Universal, DreamWorks, Hasbro, McDonald’s and a plethora of agency brands. In his role as Chief Technology Officer, Martin oversees all things technology related in our production studio, ensuring that SCS continues to remain on the forefront of technological trends, software and strategies.

Andy Wing

Chief Innovation Officer

Andy is a seasoned global senior executive whose experiences span Financial Services (American Express), CPG (Avon), Media & Entertainment/Information Services (Nielsen Entertainment) and Digital Agency Services (Fuel Industries.) As CEO, Nielsen Entertainment, Andy oversaw a portfolio of organizations on four continents. He has negotiated deals in each region across multiple industries including media & entertainment, pro sports leagues (NFL, NBA, US Open), QSRs and as CEO of Cantor Entertainment, securing US CFTC approval for movie box office futures as a tradable commodity.

Mr. Wing currently sits on the investment committees of HaasPortman and Panda Investments and several Boards.

Bud Tody

Sr Director Brand Partnerships

As Senior director Bud Tody is responsible for aligning brand partners with the full-service capabilities of SCS. Prior to joining SCS, Tody worked as Director of Strategic Partnerships for CBS. At CBS, Tody was on a team with access to the CBS portfolio developing creative solutions for brands integrating multiple platforms including digital, social, sports, news, traditional media and over 300 large music events throughout the US. Tody also led the business development for auto racing property, Red Bull Global Rallycross. In addition, Tody has worked with top media companies like NBCU, and MTV. At NBC, he led the national Sports Group sales effort in the west, and also was part of the exclusive National Olympics Brand Partnerships team.

Tommy Campagne

Sr. Group Account Director

Tommy is a decisive, and knowledgeable marketing executive with over 17 years of professional experience across multiple industries. With client-side experience in marketing roles at Verizon and Sanuk, along with his agency work at DGWB, Y&R and Rauxa, Tommy is recognized for strengthening brands using integrated digital marketing methodologies. He is a key contributor to strategic business planning with experience leading, managing, and developing long-range growth plans. He is respected as a dynamic team leader and business development lead with a demonstarted track record as a provider of creative solutions.
